December 8, 2020Asheville City Council
From the minutes, not yet reviewedCouncil extends A-B Tech police authority to the Allied Health Building and Smith-McDowell House.
A-B Tech asked the City and Buncombe County to change their 2014 joint agreement. The change lets the college's police act on the grounds of the Allied Health Building and the Smith-McDowell House. Both are on or right next to the campus. State law lets a community college with its own police make this kind of deal with its city.
