December 8, 2020Asheville City Council
From the minutes, not yet reviewedCouncil extends its parking ticket management contract with Passport Labs to February 28, 2021.
Passport Labs manages the City's parking tickets. Its contract ended September 30, 2020, with no way to renew, but the company kept working. Council approved that work after the fact and extended the contract. The extra time lets staff finish a new deal, which the City expects to cost less for the same work. The extension doesn't raise the contract amount.
- Passed with the routine items, in one vote, without discussion.
- What the City says it's for: “The requested contract extension through February 28, 2021, allows City staff additional time to complete negotiations with the vendor for a new service agreement.”
Still pending: Staff still has to finish talks on the new service agreement.
What that means
- Consent agenda:
- Routine items Council approves together in one vote, without discussion. Any member can pull an item out for its own vote.
- After the fact:
- Council approves something the City already did. This often happens in an emergency, when there's no time to wait for a meeting.
